Cycling school: social and circular

As a social enterprise, we strive to make a positive impact on society. We promote circularity and sustainability, but also consider it essential that as many people as possible safe be able to get on their bikes. For people entitled to an allowance, we offer our trainings against a strong reduced price. Thus, we make bike training accessible to various target groups.

Recovery course: basic and in-depth

Each lesson from the recovery course consists of one section theory and practice. Each time this takes place in the workshop in the Watermolenstraat in Kortrijk, where a hoisting system is available for the trainees.

Both courses consist of 4 lessons each (19h - 22h) for € 175 (incl. VAT). Each time with approx. 15 minutes break.

Cycle repair course Bicycle Centre Mobile Kortrijk

Basic course

  • Objective: Learning basic operations recovery on the regular city bike.

  • Content: You will learn how to control whether everything is still in good condition and safe.
    We will discuss and review all major bicycle components, including:

    • Tuning of the bike (frame, saddle and handlebar height, etc.), general maintenance of the bike and equipment in regulatory order
    • Taking small stroke out of the wheel
    • Braking system V-brakes, pedals, chain replacement

    • Types of lighting systems

    • Discussion of wheels (also replacing inner and outer tyres)

    • Types of hub gears

      During the fourth and final lesson, we'll repeat everything, and you'll be able to get your bring your own bike to thoroughly inspect and repair them.

Deepening course 

  • Objective: Learning repairs on ordinary bikes based on terms: headset bearing, cranks, bottom bracket unit, hydraulic rim and disc brakes, mechanical disc brakes, front derailleur
  • Content: we discuss some concepts. We learn how to disassemble and assemble. We also discuss when a part or piece needs replacing. You will go home with a checklist and the knowledge you need to track, assess and maintain your own bikes.

Cycling lessons for adults Bicycle Centre Mobile

Cycling lessons (for adults)

The courses are insured and consist of 9 lessons (1.5h) with a maximum of 10 participants. We start from scratch: from finding balance to cycling in traffic. We offer detailed cycling lessons with different bike models and situations (such as an inclined plane or cycling without pedals), in small groups of the same level.

Locations: Kortrijk, Wevelgem, Harelbeke, Kuurne, Deerlijk, Zwevegem, Menen and Wervik.

Registration

Registration is done via the CPAS of your municipality. Check with your pathway supervisor for details. Need a tailor-made lesson to refresh some things? Mail to educatie@mobiel.be.

Cycling exam (for 6th grade)

In collaboration with the City of Kortrijk, we are offering a safe cycling course for pupils from all Kortrijk primary schools, including a cycling exam and practical cycling test in traffic.

Location: Hero Routes (in and around Kortrijk).

Practising the Hero Routes?
With these route descriptions, you can cycle the route together in advance. This will help children gain confidence, learn to be safe on the road and be stronger in traffic.
